Greetings,
We have made some updates that make our logs freely available!
This means you can trace your computer to see who benefited from them.
We will be posting a link in our next entry so that you may see these logs.
You should be able to benefit from them within the week.
Please take a look at our current services to the right of this entry,
we found 'Related Sites" particularly useful.
Sincerely,

About Us -=- Mission Statement
Welcome!
What it's all about: Imagine this: One day, two geeky friends had an idea.
Scratch that. These two guys had a GREAT idea.......
The birth of a project: Guess what they were thinking?
"Where do computers go when people and businesses upgrade?"
Well, as it turns out, some of the brighter in the bunch sold them or gave them to
charity organizations. Still others followed the green craze and
had them professionally recycled.
Some people just tossed perfectly good machines.
These guys saw this, and also saw that many homes and non-profit organizations
can not afford PCs or the tech support to set them up.
So what did these guys do?
They decided that those who couldn't afford PCs could benefit from
those retired ones. And what about tech guys to fix them, load operating systems, and set them up? These guys are geeks, remember? They can do that!
Now you may be thinking,
'Interesting. But what about OSs? (Operating Systems) They are expensive!
And these PC's are retired. That's old.
Ha ha. So you thought it would die that easy?
Nope. These guys were on a roll.
And they knew the answer to both those problems offhand. See the penguin at the top in our uniform? Meet Tux the Linux Penguin, their answer.
Linux is a kind of OS like Windows or Mac, but with two major differences that would aid their project:
o It's free. Yes, I'm not kidding, it's FREE.
o It can run smoothly on older systems.
Free? There must be a string attached on that one...
No, there isn't. It's actually open-source, which means
you can copy any part of it, change it, and slap your own name
on it, as long as you mention the original authors of the code.
And a lot of people did this. There are many different Linux OSs to choose from,
and many are specialized for certain needs or careers.
Ever use Google? That runs on Linux servers. Have a cell phone?
A car? Linux powers many cell phones and internal vehicle computers. Though this may be your first time hearing about it, Linux is much more prevalent in today's world than you may realize.
I'm actually typing this on a Linux distribution called Ubuntu,
which Dell even sells on some of its own PCs. See it here.
or here.
Neat, huh? And there's more. Since Linux Distros are open-source,
nearly all Linux programs are free, including a really nice Office suite.
Another plus is that since pretty much everybody is a developer
when a project is open-source, there are millions of coders fixing flaws
in the programming compared to Microsoft's few thousand, and Apple's thousand+.
That equals few glitches, virtually no viruses, spyware, and other badware.
That means no annoying "allow or deny" pop ups.
Linux is no small deal, and in the end, it ended up being a secure, resource efficient, low cost (well, no cost, actually), and overall perfect solution for their operating system needs. Learn more about the benefits of Linux here.
So armed with the proper resources and technological know-how to make it work, they set off to refurbish retired computers and donate them to families that need them.
That is our idea. Your need, our passion.

Thanks and Apologies....
Greetings,
First off, I'd like to thank all the generous people who have donated their
equipment, time, and gas to benefit others. Your kindness is always appreciated.
Secondly, I want to apologize for my lack of clarity about our drop-off point.
I was informed that a gentleman dropped off some equipment at the location,
(perfectly following my instructions on the craigslist ad, my fault)
but he was greeted only by sounds from inside.
Thankfully he dropped off the equipment regardless.
I want to apologize for any inconvenience or uneasiness my miscommunication may have caused.
We don't really have 'staff' at the house all the time(it being a residence), so we do prefer that any donations be left on the rear walk, or an appointment be made via email/phone.
We will soon be arranging a more 'weather-proof' drop off spot!
Thank you for understanding, and rest assured that any previous donations have been
received intact.
